Houseboat summary

You will be surprised about the tranquility that our neighborhood has to offer: a true hidden gem just around the corner of Central Station and the Cruise Terminal. We warmly welcome you aboard on our cozy houseboat where you will have a private studio with separate entrance in the front of the ship. Enjoy all the comfort of a luxury hotel room, yet with the character that comes with a houseboat.

Houseboat description

Our guests particularly appreciate the location. There are many great things to - no tourist traps, but genuine interesting highlights - within walking distance. Right across the water you see the National Maritime Museum, the amazingly designed science museum Nemo and within 1 km distance you find Central Station, the free Ferry to Amsterdam North and the Cruise Terminal.

Not to mention the wonderful places to eat and drink! The famous and laid back bar-restaurant Hannekes Book (with awesome terrace) is literally one minute walking away, and around the corner there is a great cafe 'Delerium' with over 750(!) beers, also with a water front terrace. When you cross the bridge you can enjoy one of the best Chinese restaurants in town - actually also located on a houseboat! And this is just to give you an impression - there is so much to see, drink, eat and to do!

Outside you can enjoy the sun all day long. Since we are located along a dead-end street, there is not much traffic and you can sit outside comfortably. This is actually quiet unique for Amsterdam. Even just walking along our canal is a lovely experience in itself: here you will see a great variety of traditional ships that are well preserved, often over a hundred years.

And now about the studio. You have a private entrance, so privacy is guaranteed. When you enter the boat, you will experience the unique and warm atmosphere that we have created to give you a real home-away-from-home' feeling. The places has a red carpet, a comfortable double bed, a couch, a flatscreen tv, free wif, a dining table, water cooker and a small fridge. Be assured that the houseboat studio is comfortably warm all year round thanks to central heating.

Linen and towels are provided, as well as a hair dryer. Don't like to go out and fancy an afternoon cocooning? We have a nice selection of books, board games and puzzels too.

We speak English, German, French, Spanish and Dutch, so feel free to let us know if you have any questions and we will get back to you right away. Look forward to welcome you aboard on our charming houseboat!

From Central Station it is just a few minutes walking, and the Cruise Terminal is literally around the corner.

About the area

Our area is best described as a nautical neighborhood with lots of unique vessels that are tendered by their owners. We care for our houseboats, as well for each other. You will feel at home right away, yet the 'big city' is just minutes walking away. Yes, it is a true hidden gem, right in the middle of Amsterdam.

Cant wait to go back. Show original

The title of our review is Dutch and it means that we can’t wait to get back there. We had a wonderful time and it was fascinating spending our vacation on the Docstroom. We were greeted by Joanne who explained  everything to us and was able to answer all our questions too.  We had maps available and it was very easy to get around.  About five minutes from the boat we crossed a little bridge to get into the center and from there we could already see part of the city which we very much enjoyed    We found a grocery store not too far away and the transportation is awesome    We had absolutely no problems getting around  We enjoyed the evening in front  of the boat and Jeff very much enjoyed feeding the ducks that came right out of the water to us. They like crackers,so does Joanne’s cat. We  definitely come back. Sabine and Jeff. Tidewater Virginia.

When are we putting it back? Show original

A very pleasant experience for the first time. Both with the booking site and for accommodation. We parked our vehicle in the P+R Zeeburg2 car park, then took the tram. After 3 stops and 5 minutes of walking, we were able to discover the accommodation of our stay. (A discount on the price of parking is made if you use a tram ticket. Find out, it is very advantageous compared to the price of parking in the city).

Joanne had asked us the day before what time we thought we would arrive and were able to organize ourselves for the reception. The houseboat is only a 15 minute walk from the central station where almost all the trams go. We had taken an unlimited transport ticket for the duration of our stay, perfect for quickly crossing the city to get to the different places we wanted to visit (and rest our little feet).

The train line passes not far from the barge, but it didn't bother us at all. We are not light sleepers, and earplugs are kindly provided if needed. For people who need complete black to sleep, consider getting a sleep mask. The light filters through the small portholes and the curtains. Personally, it didn't bother us, but if you're sensitive to it, think about it.

We took advantage of the coffee and tea provided for the morning. A small refrigerator is even available, practical for cold drinks. Several restaurants are nearby, as well as several bars. Although we are not in the city center, there is everything you need nearby. A small binder contains some addresses, but there is so much to do. We will not hesitate to return for a future stay!

    Great value for money

The owner is a very friendly and attentive person. The location is really nice, the value for money is simply super. Note that there is a train rail on the other side of the road and you might hear passing trains till around 1 AM. However, the owner offers ear plugs if you want ;-)
The room on the houseboat is large and very well heated, and you will find everything that you need during your stay.
The place is located just 10 minutes walk from the center, the way to reach it is very nice. there is a bar at the end of the road which is also very cool.

Over all we highly recommend this place.
